It is no secret that there is currently a huge gap in information on trans and non-binary healthcare – it's a go-to talking point used by those seeking to delegitimise trans existence. Yet, only 0.2% of healthcare research funding goes to projects improving trans and non-binary healthcare. Of these projects, around half focus on HIV and AIDS, leaving crucial aspects of trans and non-binary health overlooked.
The lack of diversity in the research community itself remains a major problem with trans and non-binary researchers still being something of a rarity, even within the field of trans healthcare. Yet, it is the work of the research community that forms the basis of clinical practice and government policy. We are commited to a trans-led approach to research, ensuring that trans and non-binary voices are heard when shaping the design and delivery of trans healthcare.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore parenthood on their own terms. Yet today's reproductive healthcare largely caters to cisgender, heterosexual people, leaving few trans people able to access care - and those who do often report negative experiences. Our fertility research program is dedicated to advancing more affordable, accessible, and inclusive healthcare.

We all know that blood tests are crucial for safe and effective hormone replacement therapy. Nevertheless, many trans people struggle to access regular testing. While Sapphic Bison offers at-home fingerprick tests, these aren't ideal for everyone - especially people who are needlephobic or use gels. Our blood testing research program aims to enhance the scalability and accessibility of testing solutions. No publications as of yet - but watch this space!
